Opening Ceremony British Colleges Finals Loughborough 2006 |
The club were very pleased to be asked to do a 30-minute display as the opening ceremony for the 2006 British Colleges Final at Loughborough University on Friday 31st March. Emma and Nicola Britton, Cassy Weitz, Elise Gibbins, Ross Harding, Anna Nussey, Sarah Sribbins, Chyna Vincent, Matt Dries, Andrew and Michael Freeman were all taking part in the display. Sarah and Pip were coaching. The journey took a lot longer then expected due to traffic on the M25 and M1, but we made it there by 5pm, set the equipment up and started practising. We then had a short break and a snack and then got ready for the display. There was a speed skipping display as all the college students came in to the sports hall; and there were about 2000 of them!!!!!! The reception that we received when we marched out was amazing and the applause throughout was inspiring, the display was very well received and feedback I have received over the weekend was very pleasing. The British Colleges organiser has asked me to pass on his congratulation and thanks Well done and Thank you |

| Kate Bramall and Zoe Preston were competing in the Grade 2 in Newtownards on Saturday 8th April. There was only 1 panel and Zoe was the 1st competitor of the day. She did very good routines and incurred no end deductions and was just 0.3 off the retaining score after 2 rounds. Zoe did a better final routine and was placed 2nd
Kate was trying out her new vol with a double full and after a good set and vol she was in 1st place. An excellent final routine increased her lead to over 2 marks and she won her 2nd grade 2 of the season.
Sarah and Rob were coaching and Viv judged. |

| Under 13 girls |
| Cassy competed in her 1st grade 1 and completed her routines well, and will be working hard for her next competition, Nicola did a good set and achieved the set score for finals and an unfortunate decision in her form meant she was just 0.3 off of retaining her grade 1 status. Elise competed her new vol with 2 doubles and did well and made the final in 8th place she then had a bit of a fall in the final and did not complete her routine. Emma did 3 very good routines and won her 3rd grade 1. The team came 1st. |

| Ben could not compete due to a back injury. Matt did 2 solid routines, but just missed out on the final by finishing 9th. Michael completed a good set but injured himself in the vol warm up and had to withdraw. |

| Bank Holiday weekend |
| Grade 1 Newry and Flanders Flifffus Cup Belgium. |
| Nicola Britton went to Newry for the Grade 1 event, the journey was rememorable with a drive to Birmingham International which was severely disrupted by 2 big traffic jams, we abandoned the pre booked car park, and ran across the airport to check in as we were running late, the flight was fine only 20 of the 54 seats being occupied, then the drive to Newry from Belfast city was easy. We were competing at 9am and arrived early to be told the venue hasn't been booked until 10am!!. Nicola competed better the her maths skills and managed to achieved the retaining score to stay at grade 1 next year and competed in the final and finished 4th |
| Andrew and Michael travelled to Belgium as part of the Great Britain delegation and competed in the Cup of Flanders individual and synchronised. |
| They finished the qualification round individually in 11th and 12th position with the same score of 59.3; in the qualifying round of the synchro they were leading the event. Into the final round the synchro wasn't as strong and they finished in 6th place. |
