Metz, France
The 18th Youth European Championships where held in Metz, France during May. The academy had two members who made the trampoline team. Andrew and Michael Freeman were selected to compete for Great Britain after finish in the top four individually after trials and 1st in Synchro.
The boys had trained hard up to this competition by increasing their difficulty and training harder. On Monday this showed when Andrew finished 11th and Michael 12th in the individual competition helping the team make the final. On the same day the prelims for the Synchro event also took part. After both rounds the boys where lying first going into the final on Wednesday. On Tuesday the team final took place with the stadium full of spectators and school children. Andrew was first for Great Britain and did a very nice routine until he hit the side on his last move. Andrew was taken to hospital where it was diagnosed he had moved his growth plate. Michael stayed on and did a very good voluntary, the other team member Tom Lewis also crashed which put the team 4th which was still good considering the two falls.
Because of Andrews fall and injury the boys could not compete in the Synchro event which was a great shame since they had the opportunity to get a medal or even win.
